Our God powerfully preserves!
1. Answering our prayer
Jonah’s biggest removal from God’s presence was his refusal to pray.
Don’t neglect the privilege of calling out to God! Remember God and go to Him!
Marvel that God hears and answers in powerful and perfect ways!
2. Using our pain
Choosing disobedience is choosing pain.
God compassionately allows and appoints our pain – sometimes corrective, sometimes formative… always for our good.
God does not waste our pain – but we might. How will you become like Jesus? (Romans 8:28-29)
3. Rescuing from our pit
God mercifully reveals the hopelessness of life apart from Him!
Our worst circumstances may be God’s means of compassionate preservation!
Put on a true, godly sorrow that leads to repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10).
4. Producing our praise
God is praised when we:
- Desire His presence
- Enjoy His character
- Appreciate His salvation
